Berrien County ranked as the least-reached county based strictly on community-based suicide prevention metrics. Meetings with community partners over the past six months were marked by significant frustration, along with an understanding that prior county-level leadership had consistently advised Veterans against engaging with the Benton Harbor VA. To address this, we are hosting an open house that will allow Veterans to tour the clinic firsthand, highlight the VA’s presence in the area, and give community partners a clearer understanding of the resources available to the Veterans they serve.
