The Breaking the Stigma event brings together county and VA providers in one accessible location with a central goal: normalizing the conversation around mental health for Veterans. By creating an open, welcoming space to talk about mental health, the event helps break down the barriers and stigma that often keep Veterans from seeking support. Attendees can learn about available mental health services and treatment options, while on-site staff are also available to assist with enrolling in VA health care and filing disability claims. By pairing honest conversation with practical, hands-on assistance, the event empowers Veterans to see seeking help not as a sign of weakness, but as a strong and proactive step — leaving with both greater awareness of their options and concrete next steps toward the care and benefits they’ve earned.
