Honoring Her Service: Women Veteran History Month at VA Providence

March 5, 2026

Providence, Rhode Island

12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Eastern Time

The VA Providence Healthcare System proudly hosted a Women Veteran History Month celebration on Thursday, March 5, 2026, recognizing the service, leadership and lasting impact of women Veterans.

The event brought together Veterans, staff and community members for an engaging program featuring Joanne Barrett, Women Veteran Program Manager, alongside special guest speakers Dora Vasquez and Colonel Sharon Harmon. Speakers shared powerful reflections and personal perspectives highlighting the diverse experiences and contributions of women who have served in uniform.

In addition to the program, Veterans had the opportunity to receive personalized, one-on-one assistance from VA Providence’s Enrollment team and the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), helping attendees better understand eligibility, health care services and benefits available to them.

The event reinforced VA Providence’s ongoing commitment to honoring women Veterans—not only during Women Veteran History Month, but every day—by ensuring they feel seen, supported and connected to the resources they have earned.
