On September 10th, World Suicide Prevention Day is recognized globally, and is an opportunity for all communities to come together and make a positive impact by fostering open conversations about suicide, mental health and breaking the stigma often associated with it. VA recognizes the need for a comprehensive, coordinated approach to ending Veteran suicide, and we know that our experience, expertise, and leadership make us well-positioned to lead this cause. To show solidarity and promote awareness around suicide the colors Purple and Teal are to be worn throughout the facility. All who enter the facility will be greeted with a ribbon, sticker, or lapel pin with the colors Purple and Teal. There will be an art and craft project for those impacted by suicide to paint on canvass or rock and a Heart message board to write a message or share words of encouagement. Suicide Prevention Team will partner with their community mental health providers and community partners to expand the network of local treatment resources available to Veterans who need them.
