National Night Out is a community-building event that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. It is a large event, hosted by the Saginaw Township Police Department. Participants in the event are public safety agencies from throughout Saginaw County (police, fire, EMS), military recruiters, community agencies and organizations. Participants set up booths or tents, distribute information and interact with residents of the community. A large number of people from the surrounding community attend this event annually. Staff from the Saginaw VA Police & Security attend, as well as VA staff from Suicide Prevention, Veterans Experience, and the Eligibility office. This provides an opportunity to reach Veterans and their families in the community who may not be aware of the services offered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
This is not a VA lead event. It’s a community event organized and lead by the Saginaw Township Police Department. Staff from the VA have participated in this event for well over a decade.
