The Department of Veterans Affairs, in partnership with the Boeing Center for Veteran Transition and Military Families at Virginia Tech’s Innovation Campus will host a Financial Literacy Month Celebration on April 11, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EDT.

The in-person event is on April 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EDT, at the Virginia Tech (VT) Innovation Campus. This event is offered at no cost* to Veterans, transitioning service members, spouses, family members, caregivers, and survivors. It will include financially focused classes, a Veteran’s Financial Resource Fair, and a virtual Employer Engagement Center.

April Financial Literacy Month Celebration will give attendees access to hiring authorities and present important information on managing financial resources, improving credit ratings, and watching out for scams.

VA will also host virtual options for those not in the area, including four Financial Literacy classes and a virtual Employer Engagement Center where attendees can learn about and apply to opportunities with top employers like General Dynamics, Leidos, and Walmart.

*if traveling by a personally operated vehicle (POV), there is a parking fee.

What to expect:

  • Specialized workshops on Veterans’ financial benefits.
  • Career workshops to help with resumes and interview skills.
  • Virtual Employer Engagement Center showcasing a variety of employers.
  • Organizations providing financial services and benefits to Veterans, transitioning service members, their families, caregivers, and survivors.

Several public and private organizations will offer specialized workshops, including the Small Business Administration, Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, and many more.

VA provides benefits and services in a manner that honors Veterans’ service and dedication to our country and ensures they can utilize all the resources they have selflessly earned. VA fosters a culture of collaboration with Outreach, Transition and Economic Development (OTED), other agencies, and local communities to raise awareness of economic resources. The goal of the event is to support economic literacy and significantly improve Veterans’ and service members’ overall financial well-being.

Success stories from past VA events include more than 300 on-site job offers, distributing more than $385,000 in retroactive benefits, and providing one-on-one support through claims clinics for nearly 1,300 Veterans.
