Houston Events for Veterans

The Outreach, Transition and Economic Development (OTED) office hosted the second virtual Economic Development Initiative (EDI), formally known as Economic Investment Initiative (EII) for the San Antonio and Houston regions. OTED partnered with the Houston Regional Office, the Texas Veterans Commission, Veteran Employment Services Office (VESO), Recruitmilitary.com and other stakeholders and partners to engage transitioning and civilian-experienced military Veteran men and women who were looking for resources and career opportunities. The events included:

Economic Development Initiative (EDI) Virtual Townhall

A virtual Townhall is where local issues affecting the military and Veteran communities are discussed with federal, state and local representatives. Townhall’s provide information on initiatives that can positively affect the transition to civilian life. The event took place Thursday, September 24, 2020 from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. CT / 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. ET.

Houston Virtual Career Fair for Veterans

Sponsored by RecruitMilitary.com and in partnership with Veteran Employment Services Office (VESO), the event engaged transitioning and civilian-experienced military Veteran men and women looking for career opportunities.  The event was held on Thursday, September 24, 2020 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. CT / 12 noon – 4 p.m. ET.

Connecting Women Veterans to their Benefits

VBA representatives shared vital information on benefits and services, with an emphasis on women Veterans. They answered questions during this virtual webinar to ensure attendees had the necessary information to obtain benefits or share the knowledge learned with others who missed the event. There were also testimonies from Veterans who have successfully used the Veteran Readiness and Employment (VRE) program. The event was held on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. CT / 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. ET.
